About Us

Thompson Grinders was established in 1964 by Thomas “Woody” Thompson in Watertown, Wisconsin. A few years later, the shop was relocated to Wales and then, in 1978, to our present location in Ixonia. The business was purchased in 1980 by Gary Pillard and has been steadily expanding.

Thompson Grinders is currently manufacturing, sharpening, repairing and modifying tooling for companies all over the Midwest. We pick up and deliver in many areas throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

We have a wide range of CNC tool and cutter grinders to meet our customer’s growing needs. Along with superior sharpening capabilities, our CNC machines have custom production cycles that will generate new tools with precision, consistency and repeatability! We also manufacture and stock most standard sizes of carbide endmills.
